Ken Richardson, BIGGA, met Daniel Henningsson, Product Manager of OnCourse, at the BTME in January 2005 for a short interview.

Ken: - How many golf clubs are using OnCourse throughout Europe?
Daniel: - Approximately 300 golf clubs, mainly Sweden, UK, Netherlands and Germany and the numbers are increasing continuously on weekly basis.

Ken: - What are your future plans for OnCourse?
Daniel: - We continuously develop the OnCourse software after feedback from our customers. The OnCourse has been around for almost a decade. Today OnCourse is a very big system and a lot of improvement has been made since the release in 1996. Based on feedback from our customers and Greenkeepers Associations throughout Europe we add more functionality on yearly basis.

Ken: - What is the response from the golf clubs using OnCourse?
Daniel: - Very good. The system has been around for so long time and is used by so many golf clubs that the system today is very reliable with no known glitches. After been using it for a year every Greenkeeper tells me that they are so glad to be able to make statistics report and also so happy about the reduced paper work administration.

Ken: - Are there any other course management systems on the market?
Daniel: - In the last two years a couple of new companies have entered the market of course management software. But I would say we have far more functionalities in our system. OnCourse can also be installed in a network with up to over 200 workstations. You can also set user permissions on a function-level in every module so a person managing certain parts of information in the system only grants access to certain functions. Then we have the report module with over 50 reports and if you can’t find what you are looking for you can easily create your own.

Ken: - What about OnCourse in Greenkeeper’s education and training schools?
Daniel: - Apart from 20 colleges here in the UK we have for example many schools in Sweden using OnCourse as the standard system in education.

Ken: - Why should a golf club invest in your system?
Daniel: - As said before it’s the most reliable system and its continuously developed, most wide spread software and we will continuously work on improvements and upgrades in the future.

Ken: - Did you enjoy the BTME Exhibition?
Daniel: - Yes, very much. It’s always interesting getting feedback from golf clubs and also nice to be here meeting you all guys from BIGGA. I also enjoyed the BIGGA banquet on Thursday night at the Majestic.
